Selection Questions

How do side benches and island benches differ? Side benches organize work along a wall and can support perimeter services. Island benches provide access from more than one side and suit central workflows. The correct form depends on room circulation, object handling and the position of utilities.

What information is needed before layout design? Confirm room dimensions, work activities, equipment loads, operator positions, object movement, required water, electrical or gas services, storage needs and maintenance access. These inputs guide bench form, cabinet arrangement, worktop selection and handle or caster options.

Are laboratory benches the same as local extraction workstations? No. These benches provide configurable laboratory furniture and concealed service access. Operations that generate dust, vapours or other emissions may require a separately specified extraction device or ventilation system based on the laboratory risk assessment.
